The
Benson Historical Society discussed the history of Benson on Sunday,
April 9 during the annual meeting of the Douglas County Historical
Society. Maxine Albright presented a slide show of historic photographs
of Benson and added commentary about the community. The presentation
followed the Society's business meeting and election, held in Building 7
at the Fort Omaha campus of Metropolitan Community College.
The Benson Historical Society was recognized for donating its collection
of images and memorabilia to the Douglas County Historical Society’s
Library Archives Center. Selected items were exhibited and a digitized
presentation of 800 images from the Benson Collection was on display.
Don and Maxine Albright, president and treasurer respectively of the
Benson Historical Society, prepared the illustrated talk on early Benson
history.
Those attending had the opportunity to select their favorites from the
exhibited photographs. Select images will appear on a Benson
poster produced by the Douglas County Historical Society. View the
favorites by clicking the photo at the left.
The Albrights were honored at a reception at the General Crook House
Museum following the meeting.
